Praying {for husbands}

Husbands have so many pressures on them, so many burdens to bear and so much weighing on their hearts!  They have pressures from the world that we just don't face as women!  Yes, we as woman face many pressures also, I'm not saying that life is a walk in the park for us as mothers, wives, etc.... they're just- different.  I know the importance of praying for my husband... but sometimes I'm not always sure how to pray for him. Recently in my journal I started compiling a list of things to pray over my husband.

Some of these are ministry related, as my husband is a Pastor, but most of these things are just things we ought to pray for in general.  Of course we should be specific in our prayers, but often there's so many areas of their lives we do not cover in prayer.  This is not an exhaustive list, but a good start!

• to walk in the Spirit
• have a close walk with the Lord
• have a productive day
• to have godly wisdom in counseling others
• to have sufficient study time
• to have strength in his burdens
• protection from temptation
• strength in times of temptation
• to have his childrens' hearts
• to be compassionate
• to have God's peace
• protection of his reputation and testimony
• good health
• that he'll be a good leader
• balance in his role of husband, father and Pastor
• courage to make hard and right choices
• encouragement throughout his day
• that he'll be faithful in service/feeding the flock
• God will safeguard his heart
• to have JOY and fulfilment in Christ
• to have wisdom and discernment
• to have self control
• to have sweet prayer time with the Lord
• boldness in the gospel
• Spirit filled preaching
• his time in fasting and prayer
• he'll have a heart for people
• to never lose sight of souls
• to feel loved and appreciated

Now of course no two husbands are exactly alike, so being specific in how we pray for our husbands is important.  It's likely we know our husbands better than anyone...we know their areas of strength, their areas of weakness, their fears, their temptations, their insecurities, etc.
The main point is... pray!  Pray everyday.  Its one of the greatest ways you can support your husband and be a true help to him.  Hopefully this list will be an encouragement!  And feel free to comment with other areas to add to this list!
